Rising Stars: Teens Making a Difference

This showcase highlights 18 remarkable Jewish pre-teens and teens in the Metro Detroit area. Selected by a panel of local judges, these young leaders are featured in The Jewish News in a special April 25th issue and will also be recognized on The Jewish News, JCC, and JFamily social media pages.

Rising Stars: Teens Making a Difference is a partnership between the Detroit Jewish News, the JCC of Metro Detroit, and the Youth Professionals Network.

We are proud to announce this year’s Rising Stars: Teens Making a Difference! These 18 remarkable teens have been selected for their incredible achievements and for the positive impact they are making on others and in the community!

Nominating Guidelines

Nominees must:

  • Live in Michigan
  • Identify as Jewish.
  • Be students in grades 6-12.
  • Can be self-nominated or can be nominated by other people from March 7-30.

Nominees should be recognized for impact, contribution and/or achievement in areas including (but not limited) to:

  • Tikkun olam, volunteerism, social action, advocacy, philanthropy
  • Academics/education
  • Athletics
  • Music & arts
  • Business & entrepreneurship
  • Overcoming obstacles
  • Jewish growth and learning
  • Leadership
