J-Serve Is The International Day Of Jewish Youth Service. Since 2005, J-Serve has provided teens with a unique opportunity for teens to band together through service as a united global network committed to fulfilling the Jewish values of gemilut chasidim, acts of loving kindness, tzedakah, just and charitable giving, and tikkum olam, the responsibility to repair the world. Every year, Jewish teens worldwide join each other on this special day and throughout the spring to make their community and the world a better place.

J-Serve Detroit 2019 will take place on Sunday, April 14th from 12:30-4:30 PM. Teens will check-in and pick up lunch and bus transportation at either Aish Detroit or Friendship Circle (teens will choose their location when they register). Teens will be volunteering at one of six service sites depending on their grade:

  • 6th graders – Bethel Community Transformation Center
  • 7th graders – Georgia Street Community Collective
  • 8th graders – Voices for Earth Justice
  • 9th graders – Kibbutz Detropia
  • 10th graders – Eden Gardens Block Club
  • 11th/12th graders – Summer in the City

Immediately following their service projects, teens will be bussed to Eastern Market for a Mitzvah Celebration where they will find out about future volunteer opportunities, enjoy yummy snacks, and engage with their peers and community leaders.
